The KJKDC is a self preservation based club. This means that its philosiphy concerns itself primarily with your own personal protection across various scenarios. Whether it be empty hand vs. empty hand, empty hand vs. weapon, weapon vs. weapon, empty hand vs. multiple attackers etc, etc.

The prevailing concept at KJKDC is that we train within the characteristics of the scenario and not the technique. A technique can be perfected to the maximum but with little or no exposure to the elements where this technique should be used then the opportunity for that technique to succeed is diminished. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with the technique itself in fact it my be exactly the technique required in such a situation.

This is ecspecially evident when the presence of weapons enters into an altercation. Simply due to the fact that they are much more dangerous and also travel at higher speeds leaving less opportunity for technique to prevail. So then you may ask - If technique doesn't make the difference then what does? Well its quite simple Structure & Timing does.

When we say technique we are referring to the application of movements through the course of an exchange. When we say STRUCTURE we are referring to the alignment, placement and positioning of the bodies limbs and torso through the course of this exchange. More often than not it is the positive structure that you are in at the time and not the technique that allows a successful exchange to take place. Through the use of the Filipino Martial Arts (A.K.A FMA) and Jeet Kune Do (JKD) we are able to learn and take from many years of combat experience and reality in fighting when dealing with both empty hand and weapons as it applies to self defense.

Below you will see some images depicting certain aspects of the club.
